Can-Am Spyder

I think I just fell in love with a psuedo-motorcycle. The video makes it look very appealing, though I wonder about the price tag.

Check out their website Can-Am Spyder

Venice from above

While perusing through the web, I encountered this great set of pictures, courtesy of the Denver Post. Pictures of Venice from above. It brings back memories of my trip about 12 years ago. Perhaps one day I shall return to savor the food and the culture once more.

Venice From Above

The Barista returns

Yes, it's been a while since I have been on here. The hurricane, work, school, and trying to make time for everything while trying to maintain my sanity. I'm going to give this a second chance as I try to at least update this a few times a week. Daily updates may be out of the question for now, but lets see if I can make something out of nothing. Maybe I have readers, maybe I don't, but this will be a work in progress as I try my hand at blogging.

Ike: The calm before the storm

These pictures were taken from my backyard in the Woodlands this evening at approximately 7:40 PM. It's a beautiful sunset even as IKE was still barreling towards Galveston, Texas.

Prison Break Season 4 Premiere

** S P O I L E R S A H E A D **

Prison Break seasons 1 to 3 in 3 minutes give or take

I have to say, this episode was excellent. A lot of loose ends were tied up very quickly in the first hour. In brief here is a summary of what happened. Michael found out that Sara was alive and that Whistler and Mahone were working together against Gretchen. Gretchen was neutralized by Penrab (The Company's latest assassin) as was Whistler. Sucre and Bellick made it back to the US. Lincoln was caught in Panama after killing someone that the Company sent to kill him. T-Bag made it out of Panama with a Mexican friend but got jacked in Mexico far from the US Border by the very Coyotes (smugglers) that were taking them to the US. His traveling companion ended up being dinner (you'll have to watch the episode for that one). Meanwhile Penrab is tying up all loose ends, killing Mahone's wife and kid, torturing some people for information, and looking for Michael and Lincoln to kill them. A new threat has emerged. Scylla - the Company's little black book. The gang has a new task courtesy of FBI agent Don Self; retrieve Scylla and in turn their sentences will be pardoned and the Company will be no more. Easier said than done but that is the plot for this season. The gang consists of Michael, Lincoln, Sucre, Bellick, Sara, and Mahone. They are joined by Roland, a hacker working off his prison sentence as well. By the end of the 2 hour premiere we learned that Scylla is broken into six pieces. They have one piece and still have to find the other five. T-Bag found a locker where Whistler had some documents and a key. Penrab has Gretchen locked up somewhere while T-Bag heads off to L.A. via bus.
That is about it. Next week we hope to find out what those documents mean, Penrab's latest kills, and how the gang will find their next target.

Jazz Airlines removes life vests to save weight, fuel

I don't know about anyone else, but it's bad enough to have to need the life vests and then find out you're going to use the seat cushion. The life vests don't weigh so much that you are going to save tons of money by keeping it off the aircraft. As an airline, you want to make your customers feel at ease about their safety. This is just plain wrong and one of the many things that demonstrates to passengers that profits come before safety. The Canadian government may say its OK to not have it, but removing it is just one more thing to worry about when you're flying. At the rate we are going, they'll pull the life raft off as well to save weight and fuel while telling you that your seat cushion will be enough.

Instant Messaging

In this day and age we all have have at least one instant messaging service we belong to. However, not everyone belongs to the same one. A long time ago AOL and ICQ were the big ones. Now we have MSN, Yahoo and a host of others meaning you have to sign into each of them and making it a mess in terms of applications running on your computer. I have been a long time fan of Meebo which runs online with no software to install and combines AOL, MSN, Yahoo, Google Talk, ICQ, and Jabber in one place. Just today, while browsing around I found Pidgin which combines 16 chat services into one. I have just installed it and will review it as soon as I start to put it to use and see if it's worth it.
